**Cubes and cuboids**

The shape of a cuboid is a 3-D with edges of different lengths, its faces are rectangular or square.

A **cube** is similar to a cuboid but with edges of equal length and its faces are square.

**Length around the edges**

To calculate the length around the edges, the following formula is used where *l* represents the length and *h* represents the height:

Length around the edges = 4*l *+ 4*w* + 4*h*

or

Length around the edges = 4(*l* + *w* + *h*)

or

Length around the edges = 12*l*

**Surface area of a cuboid**

To find the **surface** **area** of a cuboid, the following formula is used where *l* represents the length and *h* represents the height:

Surface area of a cuboid = 6*l*²

**Volume of a cuboid**

We can find the volume of a cuboid using the following formula is used where *l* represents the length and *h* represents the height:

Volume of a cuboid = *lwh*

**Volume of a cube**

We can find the volume of a cube using the following formula is used where *l* represents the length and *h* represents the height:

Volume of a cube = *l³*
