# Pythagorean triples

**Pythagorean triples**

A pythagorean triple is where three whole numbers *a*, *b* and *c* form the following equation:

*a²* + *b²* = *c²*

The smallest pythagorean triple is formed by the numbers 3, 4 and 5. Other Pythagorean tripes include 5, 12 and 13 and 8, 15 and 17 which are also called primitive Pythagorean triples as they are not multiples of anther Pythagorean triple.
