# Calculations involving bounds

**Adding measures**

In a calculation which involves **adding** two or more measurements:

- The lower bound is calculated by adding the lower bounds together
- The upper bounds is calculated by adding the upper bounds together

**Subtracting measures**

In a calculation which involves **subtracting** two measurements:

- The lower bound is calculated by subtracting the upper bound from the lower bound
- The upper bound is calculated by subtracting the lower bound from the upper bound

**Multiplying measures**

In a calculation which involves **multiplying** two or more measurements together:

- The lower bound is found by multiplying the lower bounds together
- The upper bounds is found by multiplying the upper bounds together

**Dividing measures**

In a calculation which involves **dividing** two measurements:

- The lower bound is found by dividing the lower bound by the upper bound
- The upper bound is found by dividing the upper bound by the lower bound
