# Types of data

**Types of data**

Data can be either:

- Numerical (quantitative) data
- Non-numerical (qualitative) data

For example:

Quantitative data can be: height, time, age

Qualitative data can be: opinions, favourite topics, hear colour, gender

**Numerical data**

Numerical data can be either:

- Continuous – data does not go from one measurement to the next but rather has measurements in-between
- Discreet – this data goes from one measurement to the next, measurements in-between have no meaning

For example:

Discrete data includes – shoe size, goals in a football match, number of cars in a car park

Continuous data includes – temperature, time, height
